“Pato, Pato, Maricón!” is a completely sung-through, Spanglish Latin Rap Opera that commands an expansive selection of genres into a cohesive and colorful story.
Each character in the story has their own unique musical style. Alejandro and Nito are mostly rap and hip-hop dominant, witty and funny, while Las Chiquitas lean towards more pop, dance, and jazz with powerful high notes and soulful riffs and runs.
The genres interweave and blend together as the characters harmonize and overlap melodies layer after layer. Even when Ale impersonates his older brothers, he tweaks his style to reflect their preferred sub-genres of rap and spoken word.
The musical is high energy, playful, angry, somber, and hopeful as Ale comes to realize how much his brothers mean to him.
The show is still in development and consists of 22 total songs.
